Qualifications of W.F. "Casey" Ebsary, Jr.

Mr. Ebsary has been attorney of record in hundreds of cases. He has represented clients in driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated (DUI/DWI) cases in many Florida counties. He is a former Assistant State Attorney and Prosecutor and a former Assistant Public Defender. He has litigation experience including counterfeiting, driving under the influence, fraud, forgery, murder, money laundering, and theft.

Mr. Ebsary a Board Certified Criminal Trial Lawyer in the State of Florida. As a Board Certified Lawyer, W.F. "Casey" Ebsary, Jr. has been qualified among lawyers whose exclusive membership comprises less than one half of one percent of all Florida Lawyers.

Every lawyer certified in criminal trial law has practiced law on a full-time basis for at least five years. To become certified the lawyer must have handled 25 criminal cases with at least 20 jury trials, tried to verdict, at least 15 of which involved a felony. Ten trials must have been tried with the lawyer as lead counsel. Each certified lawyer has had substantial involvement -- 30 percent or more -- in the practice of criminal trial law during the three years preceding application.

Each certified lawyer must also have passed peer review, has completed 45 hours of continuing legal education within three years preceding application and has passed a written examination demonstrating knowledge, skills and proficiency in the field of criminal trial law to justify the representation of special competence.

Board certification is valid for five years, during which time the attorney must continue to practice law and attend Florida Bar-approved continuing legal education courses. To be recertified, requirements similar to those for initial certification must be met. Not all qualified lawyers are certified, but those who are board certified have taken the extra step to have their competence and experience recognized.

Mr. Ebsary's expertise includes computer presentation of demonstrative evidence and exhibit production for jury trials.  He has experienced in high-tech litigation in information systems and international banking and currency transactions.

Each spring, Mr. Ebsary teaches the Review and Preparation Course for the Florida Criminal Trial Lawyer Board Certification Exam.  Mr. Ebsary has been a Member of the Student Education and Admissions to the Bar Committee of the Florida Bar, Chairman of the Criminal Law section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Mr. Ebsary received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, cum laude from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor, cum laude from the Stetson University College of Law. Mr. Ebsary is also an Editorial Board Member of the Stetson Law Review.
